Buis-les-Baronnies
Buis-les-Baronnies is a picturesque town in the Baronnies Regional Natural Park, surrounded by rolling countryside, vineyards, lavender fields, olive groves and apricot trees. It is known for the cultivation of olives and its lime blossom market.

Culture
Twice a week it is market day in Buis. On Wednesday the “big one” with basketry, ceramics, fruit and vegetables and on Saturday the “marché des producteurs” with fresh regional specialties. The local cultural association is very active, and sometimes you are lucky to experience free outdoor concerts.

Sightseeing features
Attractions such as the “Gorges du Toulourenc” (approx. 20 minutes by car) and the impressive Chapelle Saint-Trophime are worthwhile destinations. Mont Ventoux, known as the “Géant de Provence”, is a challenging mountain and a striking feature of the area.

Surrounding towns
The charming town of Vaison-la-Romaine, with its lively shopping streets and inviting cafés, can be reached by bike in just over an hour. The old papal city of Avignon is about an hour’s drive away and a day at the sea takes about two hours if traffic conditions are good.

Culinary
Surrounded by important wine-growing regions such as the Côtes du Rhône appellation and names such as Grenache, Syrah and Viognier, the area definitely invites you to wine tasting. There are nice restaurants to discover in almost every small village and the weekly markets have everything your heart and palate could desire. We are happy to pass on our own recommendations.
Sports
The area around Mont Ventoux leaves nothing to be desired for any sporting activity. Hiking trails, bike paths and much more perfectly designed for all outdoor activities.

Bicycle
Mont Ventoux, about 23 km from Buis, represents a challenge for cyclists. Reaching the summit from all three starting points (Malaucène, Bédoin and Sault) entitles you to membership in the “Club des Cinglés du Mont Ventoux” (Club of the Crazy from Mont Ventoux).

Climb
Buis offers special paths for climbers, including designated climbing gardens and via ferratas at Roche Saint Julien. A well-known climbing garden is located in the Ubrieux Gorge, and guided tours can be planned at https://guides-baronnies.com/.

Hike
The Rocher Saint-Julien, the Ubrieux gorge, the “Gorges du Toulourenc” and the impressive Chapelle Saint-Trophime are just a few attractions that are worthwhile hiking destinations.

Ride
Discover the beauty of Provence on horseback. There are numerous bridle paths that lead through the picturesque landscape. The Center équestre “Les jardins d’Olia”, La Bouscaude in Buis-les-Baronnies, for example, offers courses for all ages and levels.

water sports
The nearby Ouvèze River invites you to various water sports activities. Whether kayaking, canoeing or just a refreshing swim in the river – everyone will find something for their personal water enjoyment here.
